Also approved was legislation intended to clarify that facilities that generate electricity using bio-methane delivered from other locations qualify as a renewable energy source under the state’s mandate to increase those sources.
Another measure signed by Brown aims to bolster the proliferation of rooftop solar energy systems on homes by limiting residential permit fees charged by cities and counties to the cost of providing the permits.
Brown did reject one energy-related measure -- a Clean Energy Economy and Jobs Incentive Program that he said his proverbially cash-strapped state just couldn't afford right now.
