Canary Islands request 8 MW from SolarWorld

0
The Canary Islands' Technology and Renewable Energy Institute (ITER)I has requested from German solar giant its biggest order to date, made up of 8 MW of modules that will be supplied by Solar World from September until mid 2007. The modules will be installed in the Grandadilla Industrial Estate and they will form the Canary Island's largest project. However, ITER is considering to extend it to 15 MW. Besides, due to a good feedback from local investors, ITER might promote another 25 MW project in the area. In both cases, ITER will manage the facility while getting 15% of the income from electricity sale.

This 8 MW agreement comes after another order from ITER from SolarWorld totalling 2 MW, which was produced in 2005. "This record order will strengthen our position in Spain's growing market", has said SolarWorld, which exported 40% of its production in the first semester of 2006. The goal is to sell 70% of its production outside Germany.
