ENERCON launches two turbines specifically for strong wind sites

The turbines will be Wind Class I versions of both the E-82 and E-101 turbines. The announcement was made at the Hannover Fair earlier this month (April 7-11) where both new machines were presented.

The E-82 series will have a rated power of 2.35MW and will be optimised for full load and cost-effectiveness. The E-82 has been designed to complement ENERCON‘s 2 MW range of machines of which more than 12,000 have already been installed. The rated power of the E-101 will be the same as the other machines in this category (3.05 MW) which until now were only available as Wind Class II versions that have already chalked up more than 1 GW of installed capacity.

The Wind Class I series includes machines ranging from the E-44 to the E-70 all the way up to the world‘s most powerful onshore wind turbine, the E-126. For both series, ENERCON is guaranteeing technical availability of up to 97 percent with the respective EPK contract. The turbines are also available with four different grid connection configurations in order to achieve safe and secure connection to the grid in all the company’s target markets in accordance with local grid codes. Both are also available with cold or hot climate features and include a storm control feature, a SCADA system and various operating modes.

The E-82 is expected to become available at the beginning of 2015 and the E-101 in 2016. Both are primarily designed for export markets.
